Role Overview
This position sits at the crossroads of engineering and commerce, where complex client needs are turned into practical, sellable security and ICT system designs. You will work alongside account managers from the first client conversation through to proposal submission, conducting site inspections, specifying equipment, and preparing the technical documentation that underpins competitive bids. Your work directly shapes whether the company wins tenders for corporate, commercial, and public-sector projects, making you a critical bridge between customer expectations and deliverable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site surveys of client premises to evaluate physical layouts, cabling pathways, and infrastructure constraints that influence system design.
- Interpret client requirement documents and translate functional needs into concrete hardware selections, software configurations, and integrated system architectures.
- Prepare complete Bills of Quantities, cost breakdowns, and pricing matrices that align with both client budgets and company margin targets.
- Draft and compile full technical responses for RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and formal tenders, ensuring compliance with procurement terms and accuracy across all specifications.
- Deliver live product demonstrations, technical walkthroughs, and proof-of-concept sessions to executive committees, IT teams, and procurement panels.
- Serve as the technical authority during sales meetings, answering architecture questions and resolving integration concerns on the spot.
- Support final contract negotiations by clarifying technical scope and confirming that proposed solutions meet all agreed performance criteria.
- Maintain relationships with OEMs, distributors, and software vendors while tracking competitor offerings and emerging technology trends for future proposals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Business IT, or a closely related technical field.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in presales, solutions engineering, technical sales, or bid compilation within the security systems, ICT infrastructure, or systems integration sector.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate BOQs, select vendor products, and manage end-to-end tender documentation without errors.
- Applied knowledge of at least two solution verticals: IP CCTV and video analytics, biometric access control, intruder detection, fire alarm and suppression systems, structured cabling, enterprise networking, wireless access, or audio-visual systems.
- Strong technical writing skills with the capacity to produce clear proposal narratives, system descriptions, and executive summaries.
- Confident presenter who can communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering audiences and non-technical decision-makers.
- Commercial awareness covering B2B solution-selling cycles, lead conversion stages, and basic margin calculation principles.
- A valid Kenyan driving licence is an added advantage for field-based site visits.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Direct ownership of technical design for high-value security and digital infrastructure deployments across corporate, commercial, and government facilities.
- Exposure to flagship hardware brands and global vendor ecosystems, building a portfolio that strengthens your long-term career prospects.
- A structured growth pathway toward senior solution architecture and commercial presales leadership within a performance-driven organisation.
