Role Overview
This is a field-based commercial role with an established medical supply company operating along the Mombasa Road corridor. You will be responsible for growing revenue by winning new healthcare accounts and deepening relationships with existing institutional clients, from private clinics to large public hospitals. On a typical day, you will move between scheduled facility visits, product demonstrations, and procurement meetings, while keeping your pipeline updated and your monthly targets front of mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and qualify leads across hospitals, medical laboratories, clinics, and retail pharmacy chains, then move those leads through quotations, negotiations, and closed contracts.
- Deliver live product demonstrations and technical presentations to clinicians, nursing teams, procurement staff, and hospital administrators, tailoring each pitch to the audience’s clinical and budgetary priorities.
- Build and maintain a structured territory plan along the Mombasa Road transport axis, optimising route efficiency to maximise the number of meaningful face-to-face engagements each week.
- Monitor local market conditions, competitor offerings, and pricing shifts to identify new opportunities and flag potential threats to the sales manager.
- Own the post-sale relationship with institutional clients, ensuring smooth order processing, timely delivery coordination, and fast resolution of product inquiries or complaints.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, outstanding quotes, won and lost deals, and delivery statuses, using these metrics to guide daily priorities.
- Submit weekly field reports, sales forecasts, and market intelligence summaries that help leadership make informed decisions on stock, pricing, and territory coverage.
- Consistently meet or exceed assigned monthly sales targets, taking ownership of individual performance from the first week.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, or a closely related field.
- At least 2–3 years of proven field sales experience in medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, healthcare equipment, or institutional sales to healthcare providers.
- Working knowledge of clinical terminology, medical product categories, and the typical procurement cycle within hospitals and private healthcare facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts, handle objections from clinical and non-clinical decision-makers, and close deals in a competitive market.
- Strong self-discipline and resilience, with the willingness to work in a performance-driven, commission-based structure during the initial three months.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the confidence to present to doctors, procurement officers, and senior hospital management.
- Own transport or easy access to the Mombasa Road corridor is strongly preferred, as the role requires frequent travel between client sites.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is an opportunity to build a long-term career with an established medical supplier, rather than starting from scratch in an unknown territory. You will be given a defined geographic focus along Mombasa Road, allowing you to develop deep client relationships and become a trusted partner to healthcare institutions. The first three months are commission-based, meaning high performers can directly control their earning potential while proving their value to the organisation, with the expectation of transitioning into a more stable remuneration structure as the role matures.
