Role Overview
This position keeps the heartbeat of a telecoms supply operation steady by making sure every piece of equipment, from network modules to customer routers and spare cabling, lands in the right place at the right time. Day to day, you will receive deliveries, verify them against system records, store items safely, pick and pack orders for field teams or couriers, and keep stock records accurate enough to pass any audit. Your attention to detail directly drives operational continuity, reduces costly discrepancies, and ensures technicians always have the gear they need.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload incoming deliveries with care and cross-check every shipment against purchase orders, delivery notes, and requisitions before accepting it into the warehouse.
- Inspect goods for damage, shortages, incorrect models, or serial-number mismatches, and escalate any exceptions to the Senior Stock Controller immediately.
- Record all receipts, issues, transfers, and returns in NetSuite and other inventory platforms, ensuring serialised equipment remains fully traceable from arrival to dispatch.
- Store items in clearly labelled, designated locations, applying FIFO rotation and separating damaged, returned, obsolete, or quarantine stock from usable inventory.
- Pick orders accurately against work orders or transfer requests, verify part numbers and quantities, and pack equipment securely for field deployment or courier dispatch.
- Prepare dispatch documentation, tags, and handover records, coordinate courier collections, and retain proof-of-dispatch and proof-of-delivery evidence.
- Support cycle counts, spot checks, and full stocktakes by counting physical stock, reconciling variances, and investigating system-versus-physical differences.
- Handle office and warehouse administrative duties, including correspondence, consumable replenishment, meeting setup, and liaising with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Logistics teams.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in warehousing, logistics, supply chain, or inventory management is an advantage.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in stock control, stores, warehousing, logistics, or inventory administration, ideally within a telecoms or equipment-intensive environment.
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse processes: receiving, binning, picking, packing, dispatch, returns, stocktakes, and discrepancy resolution.
- Practical experience capturing stock movements in an ERP, inventory, or warehouse management system; NetSuite proficiency is a plus.
- Comfortable with physical work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and carrying materials while following safe manual-handling practices.
- High numerical accuracy, strong attention to detail, and the discipline to follow documented stock-control procedures consistently.
- Basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office, barcode scanners, or similar inventory tools, and clear professional communication skills for interacting with suppliers, couriers, and internal teams.
- A valid driving licence is desirable.
