Role Overview
You will join the ward nursing team to deliver continuous, patient-centered care from admission to discharge, focusing on both clinical outcomes and the emotional well-being of every individual. Your daily work directly influences patient recovery, safety, and satisfaction while also supporting the wider hospital mission of maintaining high standards of care. This role is essential to keeping the ward running smoothly and ensuring that each patient receives attentive, tailored treatment throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of each patient’s physical, psychological, and emotional condition, then develop and adapt individual care plans accordingly.
- Administer and evaluate nursing interventions, making sure that medication, wound care, and other treatments are delivered correctly and on time.
- Help patients with their daily routines, including mobility, personal hygiene, nutrition, and other activities they may not be able to manage independently.
- Observe and document changes in patients’ symptoms, vital signs, and overall progress, then report significant findings to the medical team promptly.
- Participate actively in ward rounds and collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment decisions.
- Support diagnostic and clinical procedures, preparing patients and assisting medical staff as required during examinations and investigations.
- Supervise and guide nursing students and newly deployed staff, helping them integrate into the ward and follow established care protocols.
- Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, ensure a clean and safe environment, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives by collecting and submitting required reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN), or Kenya Registered Midwife (KRM); a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is also accepted.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya and possession of a current, valid practicing license.
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with electronic medical records and standard office software.
- At least one year of post-qualification nursing experience in a clinical care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
