Job Title: Field Operations Technician (Transmission Network Maintenance)

Job Purpose

Perform maintenance and operations activities within your assigned area, ensuring the quality and continuity of services as per the set KPIs and within budgeted costs. Execute and follow up on network extensions. Detect and provide warnings about dysfunctions of network elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to equipment faults logged in the trouble ticket (TT) system, complying with corrective maintenance KPIs.
  • Perform preventive routine maintenance to ensure consistent equipment and environment health checks.
  • Work in coordination with Support and NMC teams when analyzing fault incidents to ensure accurate, timely correction and that clears are confirmed and communicated as needed.
  • Propose improvement actions for the network structure.
  • Accurately carry out the preventive maintenance program and report on the same.
  • Jointly perform new site commissioning tests with equipment vendors, accepting only links or sites that meet the criteria set in engineering standards and equipment factory specifications.
  • Compile and submit reports on all maintenance-related matters and attend daily evaluation meetings.
  • Establish and show cause of link failure by filling in the Reason for Outage (RCA) form and producing evidence upon demand.

Principal Outputs (KPIs)

  • Achieve network availability greater than 99.60%.
  • Achieve 80% of TTs within SLA.
  • Ensure network quality with packet loss less than 0.05%.
  • Achieve 90% of planned work first time.

Qualifications – Academic and Professional

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication
  • Lean Six Sigma – Yellow Belt
  • CCNA Certification
  • Valid Driving License

Experience

2 years’ experience in transmission network maintenance.

  • Maintenance materials, spares, and tools availability.
  • Preventive maintenance execution and acquisition of recovered network assets.

  • Recommend corrective actions for fibre damages and coordinate restoration.
  • Initiate procurement requests for maintenance spares and tools within approved budget.
  • Determine priorities for preventive maintenance and redeployment of recovered network elements.

Office and field-based environment. Work involves multiple interfaces across units and frequent external interactions.
