Job Description

Role Overview

This is a one-year, full-time graduate training placement within KPC's electrical engineering function, designed for recent graduates who want hands-on exposure to the electrical infrastructure that keeps a pipeline network running. Day to day, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians on the power, control and protection systems that drive pumping operations, learning how design intent translates into safe, reliable plant in the field. The role matters because it builds a pipeline of locally trained electrical engineers who can support continuity of operations across KPC's facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of motors, generators, switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment used in pumping and station operations.
  • Take part in planned preventive maintenance routines, including inspections, testing, cleaning and minor repairs under supervision.
  • Assist with fault finding and diagnosis on power distribution, control and protection circuits, and help document the corrective actions taken.
  • Help commission and install electrical components and systems, working to approved drawings, specifications and safety standards.
  • Collect and record electrical readings and performance data, and contribute to reports that inform engineering decisions.
  • Apply electrical safety rules, lock-out/tag-out procedures and personal protective equipment requirements on every task.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, test results and equipment histories in the relevant maintenance systems.
  • Participate in structured training, site rotations and progress reviews throughout the programme.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university.
  • Kenyan citizenship.
  • Aged below 28 years at the time of application.
  • Graduation year of 2020 or later.
  • Available on a full-time basis for the entire one-year duration of the programme.
  • Able to register successfully on the E-Recruitment portal before applying; applications must follow the procedure set out in the Training Manual on the KPC careers page.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Applications close on Friday, 25th September 2026.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • A structured one-year training programme with a defined duration and scope, giving you a clear development window to build practical electrical engineering competence.
  • Full-time, on-the-job exposure to the electrical systems behind large-scale pipeline operations.
  • Mentorship and supervision from practising engineers and technicians.
  • Placement with an equal opportunity employer.

Note: the programme is not extended beyond the stipulated one-year duration, and KPC does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process. If you receive suspicious communication about this advertisement, verify it with the KPC Human Resource Office.
