Role Overview
This field-based engineering position puts you at the wellsite as the technical point of contact for a product line, where you interpret live data, diagnose problems as they emerge, and decide on the right tool or service for conditions that rarely repeat themselves. You carry the work from planning through execution, guiding junior engineers and coordinating directly with the customer's representatives and third-party crews so the job stays on schedule and on spec. Your judgment on location directly shapes how safely and efficiently the operation runs, which is why the role carries both autonomy and close accountability to field supervision, local operations management, and the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise junior field engineers during day-to-day wellsite activities, assigning tasks and checking that work is performed correctly and safely.
- Analyse wellsite data across a broad scope of complex, non-routine problems and recommend the appropriate product line, tool, or service application.
- Serve as a technical advisor to customer representatives and third-party wellsite personnel, providing direction and recommendations as conditions change.
- Match products and services to applications ranging from straightforward to highly complex, drawing on a wide working knowledge of the relevant tools.
- Monitor job progress and adjust execution plans when downhole or surface conditions require a different approach.
- Conduct all activities in line with the company's HSE policies, legal compliance requirements, and core values.
- Complete additional duties related to wellsite operations as assigned by the field supervisor or local operations management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in drilling operations.
- Demonstrated skill in drilling operations and their applications in the field.
- Ability to identify the correct product and service for simple through complex applications.
- Comfort operating within a global, matrixed organisation and reporting across multiple lines of authority.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to brief customers and colleagues clearly under time pressure.
- Exceptional organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including to rig sites, customer facilities, meetings, and training sessions.
