Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will run core accounting activities and produce reliable financial information for a cargo and logistics business operating in the UAE. The role covers month-end close, reconciliations, tax support and audit coordination, helping keep records accurate and reporting deadlines on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger accounts, complete month-end closing tasks and prepare financial reports.
- Reconcile bank accounts, branch balances and intercompany transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and prepare collection reports.
- Prepare cash flow reports, contribute to budgeting and analyse variances against plans.
- Support compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.
- Organise accounting schedules and supporting documents for audits, and respond to information requests.
- Maintain effective internal controls and accurate, up-to-date accounting records in the ERP system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- M.Com or a higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- At least five years of accounting experience in the UAE, including work as a Senior Accountant or in a comparable senior role.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger processes and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations.
- Proficiency with ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical and reporting skills, with careful attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in cargo, courier, logistics or transportation accounting is an advantage.
- CA, ACCA, CPA or CMA credentials are an advantage.
