SAP CI DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

This role sits within the integration team and focuses on keeping SAP Cloud Integration (SAP CI) solutions reliable and current as they connect SAP S/4HANA with a broad set of business applications. You will take over approved integrations after project handover and act as their day-to-day technical owner, working in a mix of roughly 70% operations and 30% development. By resolving incidents, applying smaller changes, and improving existing flows, you help ensure that critical business connections continue to run smoothly and evolve with changing needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume technical ownership of approved SAP CI solutions after project handover and support them throughout their lifecycle.
• Monitor integration flows and message processing, analyse standard incidents, and trace issues across SAP CI and the connected source and target applications.
• Resolve defects, implement standard change requests and smaller enhancements, and deploy fixes through established release and transport processes.
• Develop and modify SAP CI integration flows, configure integrations using the required protocols and technologies, and create or adjust XML/JSON transformations and XPath expressions.
• Administer solution-specific certificates, credentials, and configuration settings so integrations remain secure and compliant.
• Apply SAP CI expertise within the incident-management process by handling standard cases independently and escalating complex cases to internal SAP CI seniors with a clear initial technical analysis.
• Collaborate with source and target system teams during problem analysis, and communicate effectively with platform, application, project, and support teams.
• Maintain technical and operational documentation, capturing troubleshooting findings, procedures, and solution-specific knowledge, and share SAP CI know-how through documentation, pairing, and daily collaboration.

Requirements & Qualifications

Technical and experience requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2 to 4 years of hands-on SAP (Cloud) Integration experience.
• Proven SAP CI development experience, including building and modifying standard integration flows.
• Experience supporting SAP CI integrations in production, covering monitoring, incident analysis, and defect resolution.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA integrations.
• Practical experience taking over and maintaining approved solutions after project handover.
• Hands-on ability to configure integrations using the required protocols and technologies.
• Skills in creating and adjusting XML/JSON transformations and XPath expressions.
• Sound knowledge of technologies such as Java, JSON, XML, REST/SOAP and integration solutions such as API, ETL, and ESB.
• Experience managing certificates, credentials, and solution-specific configurations.
• Experience managing releases and transports according to established processes.
• Exposure to a broad range of SAP and non-SAP connected applications as source or target systems.
• Experience contributing to process improvements and helping adapt established processes to SAP CI specifics.
• SAP certifications relevant to Cloud Integration or Integration Suite are an advantage, but not required.
