Job Description

Position Title: Sales Supervisor – Solar Lights & Kits

Industry Sector: Renewable Energy

Remuneration: Kshs. 50,000

Employment Nature: Full-time

Location: Nairobi (with regular upcountry travel)

The Objective

We are seeking a high-caliber Sales Supervisor to accelerate the adoption of solar lights and kits across Kenya. This is a pivotal role that combines strategic planning with aggressive field execution. You will be responsible for building a robust distribution network—spanning hardware shops, retailers, and institutional buyers—while leading a dedicated sales team. Your focus will be on deep market penetration in urban and rural segments, ensuring our products are visible, available, and preferred. If you are a sales professional with a passion for renewable energy and a proven ability to manage complex distribution channels, this is your opportunity to drive impactful growth.

Operational Workstreams

Distribution & Channel Management

  • Architect and manage an expansive network of distributors and retail partners to ensure consistent product movement.

  • Identify and onboard new channel partners in underserved regions to broaden the company's geographic footprint.

  • Oversee product merchandising and visibility at retail outlets to maximize "shelf-share" and consumer interest.

  • Strengthen relationships with key institutional accounts to secure large-scale contracts and recurring revenue.

Field Execution & Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor a team of sales representatives, setting clear KPIs and conducting regular performance reviews.

  • Lead from the front by participating in field visits, upcountry activations, and high-level client demonstrations.

  • Conduct regular "ride-alongs" with team members to provide real-time coaching and improve closing techniques.

  • Represent the brand at trade fairs, community roadshows, and exhibitions to drive lead generation.

Sales Analytics & Digital Integration

  • Utilize field data and market intelligence to forecast sales trends and provide actionable recommendations to management.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align digital campaigns with physical sales efforts, boosting e-commerce performance.

  • Track inventory movement and coordinate with logistics to ensure zero stock-outs across all regions.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on pipeline status, repayment performance (where applicable), and competitor activity.

Candidate Specifications

The Essentials

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related academic field.

  • Domain Expertise: Experience in the sales of solar lights, kits, or related renewable energy products is mandatory.

  • Leadership: A history of managing or supervising sales teams with a focus on field operations.

  • Network Building: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain diverse distribution networks across Kenya.

Who You Are

  • Strategic Thinker: You can translate annual revenue targets into daily field activities and long-term channel strategies.

  • Resilient Traveler: You are comfortable with regular upcountry travel to support regional partners and activations.

  • Master Negotiator: You possess the gravitas to close high-value institutional deals and the interpersonal skills to manage retail relationships.

  • Digital Savvy: You understand how to leverage social media and online marketplaces to complement traditional sales efforts.

Why This Role Matters

  • Impactful Industry: Work at the forefront of the green energy transition, providing essential lighting solutions to diverse communities.

  • Leadership Autonomy: Shape the sales strategy and team culture for a critical product line.

  • Career Pathing: Establish yourself as a leader in one of the most rapidly growing sectors in East Africa.
