Role Overview
As Sales & Marketing Manager, you will lead the team responsible for attracting clients, growing the loan portfolio and strengthening the institution’s presence in Nairobi communities. You will combine field-based sales, customer engagement and practical market analysis to help small businesses and local entrepreneurs access financial services while supporting responsible lending.
Key Responsibilities
- Set sales plans and monitor progress against portfolio growth and monthly business targets.
- Lead, train and coach sales representatives and field officers, building product knowledge and consistent performance.
- Develop client acquisition through community visits, local partnerships, referral networks and on-the-ground promotional activities.
- Plan and deliver marketing campaigns across relevant local channels and social media; review results and refine activity using conversion data.
- Research customer needs, competitor offerings and market conditions to inform product positioning and identify promising client segments.
- Oversee customer service and retention practices, ensuring enquiries and complaints are handled promptly and clients receive clear information about responsible borrowing.
- Track the sales pipeline, conversions and revenue, manage allocated marketing and sales budgets, and submit regular performance reports to senior management.
- Gather field feedback to support improvements to credit products and coordinate promotions for new loan offerings.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related commercial field.
- Three to five years of sales and marketing experience in microfinance, credit or financial services.
- Experience supervising and developing a direct sales team, with evidence of driving performance against targets.
- Practical knowledge of microfinance lending, credit risk, responsible lending practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong client acquisition, negotiation and relationship-building skills, including the ability to turn community leads into active customers.
- Experience using CRM systems and sales tracking tools, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A valid, current Certificate of Good Conduct is required.
- Available for full-time, on-site work in Nairobi.
