Role Overview
This position sits at the front line of poultry sales in Ngara and the wider Nairobi market, turning local food businesses into repeat buyers of chicken and related products. Day to day, the executive is in the field meeting restaurants, hotels, butcheries, supermarkets, and catering operators, while also processing incoming orders and coordinating with dispatch so customers receive the right stock on time. The role matters because dependable account acquisition and retention directly drive revenue and keep the company’s distribution network active across the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of new business-to-business accounts across Nairobi’s food retail and hospitality sector, including restaurants, hotels, butcheries, supermarkets, and catering operators.
- Pitch chicken and poultry product ranges to prospective buyers, negotiate terms within company guidelines, and convert leads into active accounts.
- Own a portfolio of existing customers, making regular field visits to encourage repeat purchases, increase order sizes, and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Capture, confirm, and enter daily customer orders accurately into company systems, checking product availability, unit weights, pricing, and requested delivery windows.
- Serve as the first point of contact for customer questions, complaints, and feedback, resolving issues quickly or escalating them to management when needed.
- Track competitor pricing, local demand patterns, and buyer preferences, then share clear market intelligence with supervisors.
- Keep sales records, customer contact details, order logs, and payment reconciliation notes organised and up to date.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales summaries and coordinate with warehouse, dispatch, and delivery teams to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and on schedule.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated sales experience; previous work in poultry, fresh foods, FMCG, or retail distribution is strongly preferred.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using digital tools such as WhatsApp Business and email to manage customer communication and sales tracking.
- Strong field prospecting and closing ability, with a track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills for dealing with institutional and retail buyers.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and organised approach to work in fast-paced wholesale and retail settings.
- Ability to work both on-site in Ngara and in the field across Nairobi.
