Role Overview
The Marketing Associate will bring HalfPriced Books’ promotions to life across online channels, retail locations and community events. By combining digital campaigns with in-person outreach, this role helps connect readers with books, strengthen customer engagement and support sales across Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and schedule content for Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, using tools such as Meta Business Suite and Hootsuite to coordinate publishing.
- Build and send Mailchimp campaigns, organise audience segments, and review engagement and click-through results.
- Track website visits, search visibility and online customer activity with Google Analytics and Google Search Console; use findings to improve SEO and support online orders.
- Plan and coordinate in-store promotions, book fairs, pop-up markets and reading campaigns, including the practical arrangements required for each event.
- Work with print vendors to prepare and distribute flyers, posters, banners and other promotional materials.
- Develop outreach with schools, community libraries and literary clubs to support reading initiatives and widen community participation.
- Assist with press outreach, press releases, media activity and outdoor advertising, including signage and billboards.
- Keep brand materials consistent across digital channels and retail branches, maintain organised campaign and event records, and research reader interests, publishing trends and competitor activity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- One to two years of practical experience in marketing or communications. Experience in retail, publishing, media or event work is an advantage.
- Working proficiency with Canva, Adobe tools, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite and Hootsuite.
- Strong English writing and copywriting skills, with confidence presenting ideas and communicating with partners and audiences.
- Creative, organised approach to producing content and handling event deadlines.
- Interest in books, reading programmes, literacy access and community engagement.
- Available for full-time, on-site work in Nairobi and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends for events.
