Role Overview
This is a hands-on field sales and business development position focused on growing revenue for a portfolio of solar power equipment: inverters, lithium battery storage, photovoltaic panels, and complete energy storage systems. The person in this role spends most of their time in front of customers across Nairobi — opening new accounts, negotiating terms, and building out a network of dealers and distributors who resell the product line. It matters because the company's growth in the Kenyan market depends directly on how effectively these channels are developed and how consistently monthly and annual sales targets are hit.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and open new customer accounts and business opportunities within the assigned territory, moving prospects from first contact to signed order.
- Meet or exceed agreed monthly and annual sales targets for solar inverters, lithium batteries, solar panels, and energy storage systems.
- Present and promote the technical and commercial advantages of the product range to installers, EPC contractors, retailers, and end users.
- Build, manage, and grow a network of dealers, distributors, and reseller channels, supporting them with pricing guidance and product information.
- Handle the full negotiation cycle with customers, including quotations, pricing discussions, payment terms, and closing.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with existing accounts, following up on orders, resolving service issues, and identifying repeat and upsell opportunities.
- Track competitor activity, customer demand, and pricing trends in the local market and report findings back to management.
- Prepare regular sales reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence summaries for internal review.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–5 years of proven experience in sales or business development, ideally in a B2B or channel-driven environment.
- Background in solar, electrical equipment, inverters, batteries, or the broader renewable energy sector is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, negotiate effectively, and close deals.
- Working knowledge of the Nairobi market, including its customer base, distributors, and competitive landscape.
- Experience selling Chinese solar brands, inverters, or lithium battery products is a significant advantage.
- Mandarin or other Chinese language ability is preferred, given regular interaction with Chinese suppliers and manufacturers.
- Good command of English for written reporting and day-to-day customer communication.
- Diploma or bachelor's degree preferred.
