Role Overview
This position sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial growth. You will be the technical authority our clients rely on when selecting water and energy systems, guiding them from initial site conditions through to a fully scoped, costed solution. Working primarily in the field, you will assess borehole sites, evaluate solar and pumping requirements, and translate complex technical parameters into clear, persuasive proposals that win business and keep projects moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope and evaluate customer sites to determine the appropriate water, solar, and pumping system configurations for each project.
- Prepare accurate quotations, technical proposals, and system specifications that align with both client requirements and profitability targets.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities across the water and energy sector, building a consistent pipeline of qualified leads.
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to engineers, contractors, and end-users, translating technical features into tangible operational benefits.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with clients while safeguarding the commercial interests of the business.
- Maintain strong working relationships with existing clients, consultants, and project stakeholders to secure repeat business and referrals.
- Coordinate with internal technical teams and suppliers to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, correctly specified, and delivered on time.
- Travel regularly to client sites, projects, and industry events to support the full sales lifecycle, from first contact to after-sales service.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Water, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in technical or engineering sales, with a demonstrable record of meeting revenue targets.
- Working knowledge of boreholes, drilling methods, solar panels, and solar water pumping systems, including system sizing and component selection.
- Familiarity with pumps, generators, and irrigation equipment is a distinct advantage, as is experience with off-grid or rural water supply projects.
- Strong sales acumen with well-developed skills in negotiation, presentation, and client relationship management.
- Ability to produce detailed and commercially sound quotations, proposals, and technical documentation without supervision.
- A valid driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively to client sites across the region.
- A proactive, target-oriented mindset with the resilience to handle objections and convert technical discussions into closed sales.
