Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of our lending operations, combining business development with portfolio management. You will spend your days bringing in new loan applications, guiding borrowers through the approval process, and actively chasing down repayments to keep the books healthy. Your ability to balance empathy with firm negotiation directly affects both client satisfaction and our bottom line.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate new lending prospects while maintaining strong relationships with existing borrowers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Meets individual disbursement and collection targets by managing a personal pipeline of loan applications from initial inquiry through to payout.
- Evaluate applicants' financial standing and repayment capacity, gathering supporting documentation and recommending appropriate loan terms.
- Monitor outstanding accounts daily, flagging early signs of delinquency and initiating proactive follow-up before balances become overdue.
- Negotiate fair and workable repayment arrangements with clients who fall behind, balancing the need to recover funds with preserving long-term goodwill.
- Serve as the first point of contact for client questions on loan balances, payment schedules, and account status, resolving issues quickly and courteously.
- Maintain accurate records of every client interaction, payment promise, and recovery action in our tracking systems.
- Collaborate with branch staff and credit teams to ensure a seamless experience from application to final repayment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or another business-related discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience as a loan officer, collection officer, or relationship officer in a bank, microfinance institution, or similar financial setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial terms to clients at all levels of financial literacy.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation—you stay professional and patient even when handling difficult or distressed borrowers.
- Solid negotiation skills, proven by a track record of recovering overdue accounts without destroying client trust.
- Good organizational discipline to juggle multiple accounts, deadlines, and reporting requirements without dropping the ball.
