Role Overview
As a Loan Officer, you will be the face of our lending operations, responsible for bringing in new borrowing clients while keeping existing relationships strong. Your daily work involves evaluating prospective borrowers, guiding them through the application process, and ensuring that repayments stay on track so the institution maintains a healthy loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and approach potential clients to grow the lending client base and maintain lasting relationships with current borrowers.
- Assess loan applications by verifying client information, reviewing financial standing, and determining creditworthiness in line with institutional policies.
- Meet or exceed monthly targets for loan disbursement and timely collection of repayments.
- Monitor outstanding accounts, follow up on overdue payments, and negotiate workable repayment plans with clients facing financial difficulties.
- Provide clear, courteous guidance to clients throughout the loan lifecycle, addressing questions and resolving concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, disbursements, collections, and follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure loan documentation, approvals, and disbursements are processed efficiently.
- Uphold ethical lending practices and safeguard client confidentiality at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience as a loan officer, collections officer, or relationship officer in a financial services environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain financial terms clearly to diverse clients.
- Proven customer service orientation with a professional, patient, and empathetic approach to client interactions.
- Effective negotiation skills to secure repayment commitments while preserving positive client relationships.
- Basic proficiency in financial calculations, loan documentation, and record-keeping.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet numerical targets.
