The society was formed mainly to promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity for accumulating their savings; and to thereby create a source of funds from which loans can be made to them exclusively for provident and productive purposes, at fair and reasonable rates of interest; thereby enabling them to use and control their money for their mutual benefit. The Sacco’s founder members were: Dennis Wambugu (Chairman), Jane Waweru (Secretary), Simon Kanani, James Wahome Charity Kanyeki and Fred Gitau. Initially, there was no dedicated office for KIMISITU, elected officials operated from their respective employment offices and later moved to city centre in a shared office. Later the office returned to ICRAF Complex when the management of the latter agreed to provide office space at ICRAF House for the then two staff - The Manager and Accounts Clerk. In order to achieve a solid base for growth, Kimisitu opened membership to other international organizations. Among the first organizations to be admitted included IDRC, Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation consecutively in the formative years. The society has enjoyed tremendous success such that as at 31st December 2015 it had over 400 member organizations and over 7,000 individual members. View more View less

Job Description

Role Overview

As a Regional Sales Agent, you become the face of Kimisitu DT Sacco in your assigned region — Nakuru, Kisumu, or Mombasa — serving as the primary link between the institution and the members it serves. Your day-to-day work combines field prospecting, member onboarding and relationship management, and the steady follow-up that turns a signed-up member into an active, contributing one. Because the Sacco's growth in each region depends on the strength of its membership base, your results in recruitment, retention and product uptake directly shape how quickly the institution expands in your territory.

You will work closely with colleagues in Marketing, Credit and Finance, while engaging externally with members and vendors. The role carries no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business by identifying sales prospects and working through leads and referrals within your assigned region.
  • Plan and execute sales activation drives, marketing events and community outreach activities that raise the Sacco's visibility locally.
  • Recruit new members while applying full due diligence and complying with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
  • Follow up with newly recruited members to ensure their accounts are properly funded and remain active.
  • Consistently hit agreed sales targets across daily, weekly and monthly reporting cycles.
  • Explain the Sacco's savings, loan and other service offerings to members and identify opportunities to cross-sell additional products.
  • Build and maintain strong member relationships and deliver presentations to prospective customers that convert interest into membership.
  • Compile and submit periodic sales reports for your supervisor's review, and support the rollout of the Sacco's sales, marketing and business growth strategies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Co-operative Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Sales and marketing experience gained within a financial institution is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work towards and deliver on set sales targets within defined timeframes.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills, both with individual prospects and groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with members from varied backgrounds.
  • Capacity to work independently in the field while remaining an effective team player.
  • High standards of personal integrity and professionalism when handling member information and transactions.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Commission-based earnings on top of a monthly retainer of KES 30,000.
  • A field-based role with a defined regional territory — Nakuru, Kisumu or Mombasa — giving you ownership of your market.
  • Direct exposure to the full range of Sacco products and services, with room to develop commercially in a growth-focused financial institution.
  • People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates who meet the above requirements should complete the online data form in full — incomplete submissions will be disqualified — and send an application letter together with a detailed CV to [email protected], using the job title as the subject line. Applications close at the end of business on October 1, 2026.
