Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Technician to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex cooling and HVAC systems. Based along the Thika Road corridor, you will be responsible for a variety of residential and commercial units, requiring a deep understanding of the refrigeration cycle, electrical components, and environmental safety standards.

Functional Area Accountabilities

System Deployment & Commissioning

• Lead the installation of refrigeration units, chillers, and HVAC systems according to technical blueprints and manufacturer specs.

• Ensure precise sizing and secure mounting of all hardware and associated piping.

• Calibrate system controls for temperature, pressure, and airflow immediately following installation to guarantee efficiency.

Preventive Care & Diagnostic Analysis

• Execute a rigorous preventive maintenance schedule, including filter cleaning, lubrication, and refrigerant level checks.

• Utilize specialized diagnostic tools to interpret error codes and sensor data, identifying potential failures before they occur.

• Conduct pressure tests and leak detection to maintain system integrity and environmental compliance.

Advanced Repairs & Emergency Support

• Restore functionality to malfunctioning systems by repairing or replacing compressors, motors, thermostats, and expansion valves.

• Perform high-quality brazing, soldering, and electrical wiring to fix damaged lines or faulty circuits.

• Provide rapid response to emergency breakdowns, minimizing operational disruptions for clients and stakeholders.

Reporting & Resource Management

• Maintain comprehensive service logs and maintenance records for every unit serviced.

• Communicate technical updates and upgrade recommendations clearly to facility managers or clients.

• Manage the inventory of essential spare parts and maintain all diagnostic equipment in peak working condition.

Professional Requirements

Qualifications & Background

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience specifically within refrigeration and HVAC systems.

• Certification: Must hold a valid HVAC certification from a recognized technical institution.

• Technical Literacy: Proven ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
