Job Description

Role Overview

This is a one-year, full-time graduate attachment within Kenya Pipeline Company's engineering and technology functions, aimed at recent degree holders in electrical, electronic, telecommunication, computer or IT disciplines. The successful trainee works alongside experienced engineers and technicians on the equipment, networks and systems that keep a large fuel-handling operation running, building practical competence through supervised, hands-on assignments rather than classroom theory. For the employer, the programme is a pipeline for developing young technical talent who understand both field equipment and the information systems that support it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day upkeep and inspection of electrical and electronic installations, motors, switchgear and instrumentation under the guidance of senior technical staff.
  • Assist with the installation, testing and fault-finding of communication and telecommunication links used across operational sites.
  • Participate in diagnosing equipment faults, documenting findings and following up on corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Help maintain computer networks, hardware and software used by engineering and support teams, including basic troubleshooting and user assistance.
  • Collect, record and organise technical data such as readings, maintenance logs and test results for reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare simple drawings, schematics and documentation to reflect modifications, installations or as-built conditions.
  • Observe and apply workplace safety, environmental and quality procedures during all site and workshop activities.
  • Take part in formal training sessions, rotations and progress reviews, and present summaries of work completed during the attachment.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen aged below 28 years at the time of application.
  • Must hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a BSc in Information Technology.
  • Must have graduated from a recognised university from 2020 onwards.
  • Must be able to commit to the programme on a full-time basis for its entire one-year duration.
  • Academic grounding in electrical circuits, electronics, control or instrumentation, plus a working knowledge of telecommunication or IT systems.
  • Familiarity with standard engineering and office software, including spreadsheets and technical drawing or simulation tools.
  • Practical problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn from field technicians and engineers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively within multidisciplinary teams.

Programme Details and Application Process

  • The attachment runs for a fixed period of one year on a full-time basis; the company does not extend the programme beyond this duration.
  • Kenya Pipeline Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Applications are submitted online only, and candidates must first register successfully on the E-Recruitment portal; the application procedure is set out in the Training Manual available on the KPC website careers page.
  • The company does not charge any fee at any stage of the application process, and applicants are advised to verify any suspicious communication about this advertisement with the KPC Human Resource Office.
  • The closing date for submissions is Friday, 25th September 2026.
