Our client, a specialized manufacturer of detergents and pool chemicals, is seeking a high-caliber Quality Assurance Officer. This role is the technical backbone of the production facility, ensuring that every batch of product—from industrial surfactants to chlorine-based chemicals—meets rigorous safety and efficacy standards. You will be responsible for the end-to-end quality lifecycle, including raw material verification, in-process titration/analysis, and final product certification. The ideal candidate will combine strong laboratory expertise with a firm understanding of Kenyan regulatory frameworks (KEBS) and international quality management systems (ISO).
Laboratory Analysis & Product Testing
Conduct rigorous chemical and physical testing on raw materials and finished goods, focusing on pH levels, chlorine concentrations, viscosity, and active matter.
Approve or reject production batches based on strict adherence to formulation accuracy and set quality specifications.
Monitor the consistency of detergent formulations to ensure every unit meets the promised performance standards.
Manage the laboratory environment, ensuring all testing equipment is calibrated and reagents are handled safely.
Process Monitoring & QMS Compliance
Conduct routine inspections of the mixing, filling, and packaging lines to ensure total alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Identify and document process deviations, recommending immediate corrective actions to prevent large-scale batch failures.
Support the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for any non-conformities.
Ensure all products and raw materials are accompanied by updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and are labeled according to global hazard standards.
Regulatory Affairs & Safety
Serve as the primary point of contact for KEBS compliance and audits, ensuring all products carry the required standardization marks.
Oversee the safe handling and storage of hazardous industrial chemicals, including acids and volatile surfactants.
Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing technical documentation and batch records as required.
Investigate customer quality complaints, performing root-cause analysis and implementing feedback loops to the production team.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Analyze defect trends and laboratory data to identify opportunities for increasing production efficiency and reducing waste.
Facilitate staff training on quality standards, chemical safety, and operational hygiene.
Prepare comprehensive quality reports for management, detailing batch performance and regulatory status.
