Role Overview
This medical role combines direct patient care with support for the coordination of clinical services. The successful candidate will assess and manage patients, maintain accurate medical records, and contribute to effective day-to-day operations in a public or private hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients, make clinical decisions, and develop appropriate care and management plans.
- Provide medical care in line with relevant clinical guidance and applicable Kenyan laws and regulations.
- Document consultations, treatment, and patient outcomes accurately using hospital records and Health Management Information Systems.
- Follow healthcare policies and reporting procedures, and prepare clinical or operational reports as required.
- Support the coordination of clinical operations and, where assigned, guide medical staff and contribute to team leadership.
- Communicate clearly with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders about care and service needs.
- Contribute to project planning and operational oversight, including budget awareness and cost management where relevant.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognised university.
- Current registration and a valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- At least one year of post-internship experience in a public or private hospital.
- Certificates in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Knowledge of healthcare policies, clinical documentation, and reporting procedures.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Health Management Information Systems.
- Sound clinical judgement and patient-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Project management, report-writing, and leadership skills are desirable, as are experience overseeing staff or clinical operations and basic financial knowledge such as budgeting, cost management, or accounting.
- Familiarity with Kenyan laws, regulations, health guidelines, and health schemes is desirable.
