Job Description

Role Overview

This supervisory position sits at the heart of a manufacturing operation in Ukunda, Kwale County. You will be accountable for the productivity of shift teams, translating daily production targets into actual output while keeping safety, quality, and cost efficiency firmly in view. Working closely with the Factory Manager, your decisions on the plant floor directly influence delivery timelines, product consistency, and the facility's overall operating costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate shift production teams, including daily task allocation, scheduling, attendance monitoring, and performance feedback.
  • Track production progress against planned targets, adjusting labor or machine flow as needed to keep output on schedule.
  • Monitor raw material usage and machine utilization, maintaining accurate batch records and escalating any deviation that threatens efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and warehouse staff to prevent line stoppages and ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Inspect raw materials, in-process work, and finished goods against specification, and immediately isolate non-conforming product.
  • Run root-cause analysis on quality defects and equipment issues, then implement corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Enforce plant safety rules, including PPE compliance and safe machine handling, and lead briefings on hazard identification.
  • Prepare end-of-shift reports covering production volumes, downtime events, quality outcomes, and safety observations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Technology, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 3–5 years of hands-on supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting; food or FMCG processing experience is a strong advantage.
  • Solid understanding of quality control procedures, plant safety regulations, and production tracking or ERP tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership on the shop floor, with the ability to motivate operators, resolve conflicts, and enforce standards without friction.
  • Strong analytical skills for solving line disruptions, investigating variance, and driving waste reduction.
  • Excellent organizational capacity to handle shift rosters, batch tracking, inventory counts, and reporting simultaneously.

What We Offer / Why Join

The role provides an opportunity to take ownership of production outcomes within an established manufacturing business. It is a full-time, on-site position based in Ukunda, Kwale County, with a monthly salary of KSh 60,000–65,000.
