Role Overview
This field-service role keeps customers’ irrigation and pumping systems working reliably, from initial installation and commissioning through fault-finding, repair and routine maintenance. You’ll work on site to restore performance, explain technical issues clearly and help customers identify practical ways to maintain or improve their systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, inspect, test and maintain irrigation equipment, pumps and related systems at customer locations.
- Investigate equipment faults methodically, determine their underlying causes and complete suitable repairs or corrective work.
- Check system operation after installation or service, including relevant performance measures, and confirm that work has addressed the reported issue.
- Respond to service requests within agreed timeframes, aiming to resolve problems effectively on the first visit.
- Record site findings, work completed, materials used, equipment condition and follow-up recommendations in clear service and commissioning reports; obtain customer sign-off where required.
- Log field work in the organisation’s service-management and digital field-service systems.
- Discuss faults, operating practices and recommended repairs or improvements with customers, and report potential maintenance, replacement or upgrade work to the relevant teams.
- Coordinate assistants, subcontractors or other site personnel when needed, while managing assigned tools, test equipment, spares, consumables and vehicles responsibly.
- Follow technical, warranty, environmental and health and safety procedures, and work constructively with Sales, Projects and Service colleagues.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Higher Diploma in Water, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification from a recognised institution.
- At least three years of relevant experience in irrigation, pumping systems or a comparable field-service role.
- Hands-on experience installing, commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler and pop-up configurations.
- Working knowledge of pumps, filtration, valves, pipelines, controls and the hydraulic principles that affect flow, pressure and system performance.
- Ability to assess equipment faults, carry out repairs and evaluate irrigation-system performance, with practical plumbing, pipework and hydraulic skills.
- A valid driving licence and readiness to travel extensively to field assignments.
- Experience with fertigation, irrigation automation or solar-powered irrigation and pumping systems is an advantage.
- EPRA Electrical C1/C2 or Solar T2/T3 certification, or equivalent practical installation experience, is desirable.
- Experience optimising irrigation performance and carrying out preventive maintenance is beneficial.
