Role Overview

This position focuses on delivering the Primary Years Programme through inquiry-based learning, working within a collaborative team to design and refine curriculum that aligns with both Academy standards and PYP principles. Day to day, you will plan engaging lessons, assess student progress, and build strong partnerships with families, while also contributing to the broader school community beyond the classroom. Your role is essential in fostering a reflective, growth-oriented culture where every child's development is carefully supported and communicated.

Key Responsibilities

• Work jointly with colleagues to design, review, and update curriculum documents that meet PYP and Academy expectations.
• Deliver instruction that centres on inquiry methods, adapting activities to suit varying student abilities and learning styles.
• Use a range of authentic assessment tools to monitor each student's progress, then share findings clearly and respectfully with parents and guardians to guide future teaching.
• Keep relevant stakeholders—parents, administrators, and fellow educators—informed about programme updates, student achievements, and curriculum changes.
• Identify and organise classroom resources required for effective programme delivery, maintaining accurate records of existing materials and inventory.
• Take an active role in Junior School events, extracurricular activities, and whole-school initiatives, both during and outside regular school hours.
• Oversee student behaviour throughout the day, ensuring that the core values outlined in the student handbook and discipline policy are consistently upheld.
• Engage fully in the Academy's professional growth and appraisal process as part of its learning community, reflecting on practice and seeking continuous improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• A valid TSC certificate, an internationally recognised teaching qualification, or a Bachelor of Education or Master of Education degree.
• At least three years of experience teaching within the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
• Demonstrated understanding of child development theories and current best practices in primary education.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively, think creatively, adapt to changing situations, show empathy, reflect on one's own teaching, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
