Job Description

Job Role: Production Manager

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Production Manager to oversee operations within a manufacturing setup along Mombasa Road. The role involves managing the production team, optimizing processes, maintaining accurate records, and supporting financial and budget‑related decisions to drive efficiency and quality.

Your Role

  • Lead and reorganize the production department to improve output, reduce overtime, and maintain quality standards.

  • Use SAP and process‑improvement tools to ensure smooth, data‑driven manufacturing operations.

Main Responsibilities

People Management

  • Manage scheduling of production staff to minimize overtime and maximize output.

  • Set departmental objectives and KPIs and regularly review performance of direct reports.

  • Train machine attendants, setters, and supervisors on optimal settings, ISO best practices, and Kaizen methods.

  • Coach and develop a high‑performing team that consistently meets targets.

  • Reorganize the Production Department as needed to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary overtime.

Production Management

  • Maintain all production records on SAP and ensure accuracy.

  • Monitor production efficiency and tooling utilization, making improvements where necessary.

  • Implement Kaizen and process‑improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational excellence.

  • Liaise with the Maintenance Department to minimize machine downtime and ensure proper tooling care.

  • Stay updated on developments in plastic technology and recommend new technologies and techniques.

Financial & Budget Control

  • Participate in management team meetings to recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Prepare the annual factory wages budget and forecasts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Track monthly energy consumption and recommend energy‑efficiency programs.

  • Manage project budgets from identification to completion.

  • Recommend machinery replacements based on energy efficiency and operational ROI.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering with a focus on Manufacturing.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in management and 5 years in a technical role.

  • Experience working in a plastics manufacturing factory and knowledge of polymers and optimum processing conditions (added advantage).

  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.

  • Experience in change management, manufacturing, and industrial systems and processes.

What You’ll Receive

  • Monthly salary between KES 200,000 and 300,000, depending on experience and performance.

  • Part‑time but impactful role in a manufacturing environment with clear responsibility for people, process, and project budgets.
