Role Overview
The Procurement Officer strategically drives supply chain efficiency and value creation by ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services, cultivating strong supplier relationships, and maintaining the agility required to respond to fast-moving consumer trends and dynamic market conditions. The role holder reports to the Senior Procurement Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end strategic management of sourcing and the complete supplier lifecycle.
- Drive operational procurement efficiency by ensuring the effective conversion of purchase requisitions and rigorous monitoring of delivery lead times.
- Ensure compliance and accuracy of supplier invoices, Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs), and supporting documentation to facilitate seamless payment processing.
- Coordinate with Finance to maintain precise records of financial commitments and accruals.
- Act as a key cross-functional partner in supporting new product development, mitigating supply chain risk, and securing optimal raw material availability.
- Generate and present accurate, insightful reports covering spend analysis, realized savings, supplier performance, and contract utilization.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing both cost efficiency and supplier reliability.
- Maintain meticulous documentation (e.g., vendor quotes, POs, reports) across all procurement activities to ensure full accountability and audit readiness.
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of category management, contract administration, and supplier performance management.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP or Sage X3) and MS Excel (pivot tables, spend dashboards).
- Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
- CIPS qualification (Le vel 4 and above) or any additional procurement and supply chain certification will be an added advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for negotiation, cost breakdown, and benchmarking.
- Solid understanding of procurement policies, ethics, and audit readiness.
- Awareness of supplier ESG standards and the Company’s sustainability agenda.
