Procurement Engineer
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Procurement Engineer will manage end-to-end procurement activities for engineering and MEP projects, including identifying requirements, preparing and issuing Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluating supplier offers, and coordinating purchase orders. Responsibilities include maintaining supplier relationships, tracking delivery timelines, ensuring compliance with company policies and technical specifications, and optimizing costs without compromising quality. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align procurement plans with project schedules and budgets, as well as continuous improvement of procurement processes and vendor performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify procurement requirements for engineering and MEP projects.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Evaluate supplier offers, compare quotations, and process purchase orders.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor delivery timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, technical specifications, and quality standards.
- Optimize costs while maintaining quality and safety requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align procurement with project schedules and budgets.
- Continuously improve procurement processes and assess vendor performance.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Experience in procurement within construction, MEP, or electrical engineering projects is highly beneficial.
- Proven experience with purchase orders and RFQs, including preparing requests, comparing quotations, and processing orders in an organized and timely manner.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong supplier evaluation skills, including assessing technical capability, reliability, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Solid analytical skills and communication abilities to interpret data, prepare reports, negotiate with suppliers, and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
- Proficiency in procurement or ERP systems and MS Office tools, with strong attention to detail and adherence to ethical purchasing practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Nairobi County, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
