Role Overview
This position is about taking full ownership of procurement outcomes, not just running a process from kickoff to signature. You will work across an unusually broad mix of spend categories — mobility, retail, facilities, construction, fleet, technology, and professional services — giving you exposure that most sourcing roles never offer. The commercial decisions you make will directly influence capital projects tied to financial inclusion at a continental scale, so your judgement and execution matter well beyond the procurement function.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement multi-year category strategies across assigned spend areas, balancing short-term cost objectives with long-term supply chain resilience.
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing events, including market research, supplier identification, RFx management, bid evaluation, and award recommendation.
- Build should-cost models and apply Total Cost of Ownership analysis to challenge supplier pricing and uncover hidden value in complex deals, especially construction and capital projects.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing structures, and contract clauses with suppliers, managing the full contract lifecycle through to execution and renewal.
- Manage relationships with critical suppliers, conducting performance reviews, identifying risks, and developing improvement plans that protect business continuity.
- Collaborate closely with internal business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into clear, competitive procurement strategies.
- Maintain rigorous governance across all sourcing activity — transparent evaluation criteria, complete documentation, audit-ready records, and regular reporting that gives leadership visibility into delivered value.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Extensive progressive experience in procurement and supply chain, with a proven record across strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and cross-functional project delivery in areas such as CapEx, construction, facilities, technology, logistics, or retail expansion.
- Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated negotiation skill, backed by hands-on use of Total Cost of Ownership modelling, spend analysis, supplier benchmarking, and market intelligence to achieve measurable outcomes.
- Relevant procurement certifications such as CIPS or KISM; progress toward MCIPS is an added advantage.
- Comfort operating with real autonomy, managing several sourcing projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and consistency across each.
- Working knowledge of ERP and eProcurement systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, Coupa, or Ariba.
- A degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred, though practical delivery experience carries the most weight.
What We Offer / Why Join
This role offers the chance to work across a wider range of spend categories than typical procurement positions, with the trust and independence to shape strategy and own results. You will have direct influence over high-impact capital projects, build lasting supplier partnerships, and develop commercial expertise that applies across industries — all while contributing to financial inclusion efforts with continental reach.
