Role Overview
This full-time post is based at a manufacturing facility in Mlolongo, Machakos County, and exists to safeguard physical stock and reduce avoidable losses across all stages of production. Reporting to the Operations & Supply Chain Manager, the officer will spend most of the day on the factory floor and in storage yards, following material movements from incoming deliveries through work-in-progress to finished-goods dispatch. By spotting weaknesses in handling, storage and access controls, the role keeps inventory accurate, protects company assets and helps management make sound supply chain decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and verify the physical movement of raw materials, work-in-progress stock and finished goods across factory floors, stores and yards.
- Run periodic and unannounced stock counts, comparing physical results with ERP records and investigating every mismatch.
- Document shrinkage, wastage and discrepancies in detail, identify root causes and present clear findings to senior management.
- Oversee supplier deliveries, internal transfers and outgoing dispatches to ensure paperwork, quantities and product condition all match up.
- Apply and reinforce loss-prevention procedures, access restrictions, storage rules and chain-of-custody controls around all inventory locations.
- Carry out risk assessments through the supply chain, flagging vulnerable points and recommending practical corrective measures.
- Lead internal investigations into theft, unauthorised access, property damage or material tampering, keeping accurate investigation records.
- Prepare evidence packs and inventory performance summaries for both internal audits and external reviewers.
- Train warehouse, production and logistics staff on secure handling practices and the reasons behind loss-control policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in purchasing and supplies management, supply chain management, logistics or a closely related business field.
- At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in loss control, inventory auditing or supply chain security inside manufacturing or an industrial plant.
- A recognised loss-prevention or security certification is highly desirable and will strengthen an application.
- Sound working knowledge of inventory control systems, ERP modules, stock-reconciliation techniques and basic risk-management frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with high accuracy and comfort handling figures, spreadsheets and detailed investigation work.
- Demonstrated integrity, professional courage and the ability to communicate sensitive findings clearly in writing and in person.
- Willingness to work on-site daily in Mlolongo and travel within the facility’s storage and production areas as needed.
