Role Overview
You will join a hands-on technical team responsible for keeping essential equipment and systems running safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day work will involve installing new units, performing regular maintenance, and repairing breakdowns as they arise, often under time-sensitive conditions. This position matters because reliable equipment underpins daily operations, and your work will directly reduce costly downtime while helping to maintain a compliant, hazard-free workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the installation and commissioning of equipment and systems in line with manufacturer specifications and site procedures.
- Perform planned preventive maintenance inspections to identify wear, defects, or potential failure points before they escalate.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or systemic faults using appropriate testing tools and reference materials, then complete repairs with a permanent, quality fix in mind.
- Maintain clear records of work performed, including inspection results, parts used, and follow-up actions required.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other team members to arrange maintenance windows that minimise operational disruption.
- Apply strict workplace health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe isolation practices.
- Respond to emergency repair calls promptly, providing a calm and solution-focused approach under pressure.
- Report recurring issues or reliability concerns and suggest improvements where they would extend the life of assets or improve safety.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A relevant certificate or diploma in a recognised technical trade such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or an equivalent installation and maintenance discipline.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience working in installation, maintenance, and repair roles where practical troubleshooting was a core part of daily work.
- Strong technical ability across diagnostics, fault-finding, and repair, with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Solid working knowledge of equipment installation practices, routine servicing methods, and repair techniques for your trade area.
- A good understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, including risk assessment and the safe use of tools and equipment.
- Dependable, professional demeanour with a genuine commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment and also take ownership of tasks when working independently.
