Role Overview
This role is for a hands-on technician who will handle the full cycle of equipment care—from initial installation and routine servicing through to fault diagnosis and on-the-spot repairs. Day to day, you will split your time between practical tasks at worksites or in the workshop, completing inspections, testing components, and restoring systems to working order. Your work matters because it keeps operations running smoothly, prevents avoidable breakdowns, and helps the team maintain a strong record of safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation and commissioning of equipment according to technical specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance visits, checking systems for wear, calibration, and potential failure points.
- Troubleshoot equipment faults using testing instruments, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic software where applicable.
- Repair or replace defective components such as motors, sensors, seals, or electrical parts to restore safe operation.
- Keep accurate service records, including work completed, parts used, and recommendations for further action.
- Follow workplace health and safety rules at all times, including using appropriate personal protective equipment and safe isolation procedures.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other team members to prioritise urgent call-outs and communicate job progress clearly.
- Maintain tools, instruments, and spare parts stock so jobs are completed without unnecessary delay.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Relevant certificate or diploma in a technical field such as electrical, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in equipment installation, maintenance, and repair work.
- Strong technical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Hands-on knowledge of installation methods, maintenance procedures, and corrective repair techniques.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and safe working practices.
- Reliable, professional in appearance and behaviour, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and clients on site.
