Job Title: Hospital Pharmacist

Nairobi, Kenya (with possible rotations across hospital departments)

Chief Pharmacist / Head of Pharmaceutical Services

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hospital Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, effective, and rational use of medicines within the hospital, contributing to optimal patient outcomes through clinical pharmacy services, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and dispense prescriptions accurately, providing patient counseling on medication use, dosage, and potential side effects.
• Monitor patient medication therapy to prevent drug interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects.
• Participate in ward rounds and collaborate with medical teams on pharmacotherapy decisions.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, storage, and expiry tracking.
• Ensure adherence to Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulations and hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate records using Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
• Provide drug information and education to healthcare staff and patients.
• Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship and formulary management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Degree in Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
• Experience: At least 3 years post-internship working experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Licensing: Registered and with a valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Skills: Proficiency in computer skills (especially Health Management Information Systems). Good communication and interpersonal skills.
