Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical care in a hospital, retail, or clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications according to prescription orders and established protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory of pharmaceuticals, including storage, labeling, and expiry date monitoring.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries, processing insurance claims, and coordinating refills.
- Ensure compliance with drug safety practices, infection control, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and medication management.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing pharmacy records.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacy, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a hospital, retail, or clinical pharmacy setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, dosage forms, and drug safety practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and as part of a team.
Skills & Attributes
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong ethical judgment and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
Working Conditions
This position is based in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and handle repetitive tasks with precision. Protective equipment and hygiene protocols are provided.
