Role Overview
This full-time university lecturer position involves delivering undergraduate and postgraduate instruction across one of several academic schools—Education and Social Sciences, Science, Health Sciences, Business and Economics, or Computing and Information Technology. Day to day, you will prepare and deliver lectures, design learning materials, coordinate practical projects, and assess student work, all while helping maintain the university’s academic standards. Your teaching and research contributions directly shape student outcomes and support the institution’s mission to provide quality, accessible higher education in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and practical sessions in assigned courses, following the approved syllabus and curricular guidelines.
- Coordinate course projects, fieldwork, laboratory sessions, and other hands-on learning activities to ensure students gain applied skills.
- Develop and update teaching and learning materials, including lecture notes, handouts, case studies, and digital resources.
- Set, invigilate, and mark examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tasks in line with institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate academic records, record grades, and provide constructive feedback to students on their progress.
- Supervise student research projects, dissertations, or practical attachments where applicable within your school.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and quality assurance initiatives to improve teaching effectiveness.
- Engage in research, scholarly writing, or industry-relevant activities to stay current in your field and enhance learning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- An earned PhD or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited and recognized university.
- Demonstrable teaching experience at university level, or substantial experience in research or industry relevant to the subject area.
- For qualifications obtained outside Kenya, applicants must attach an official equation or recognition certificate from the relevant Kenyan authorities.
