Role Overview
This university teaching position involves delivering lectures and practical instruction within a specific academic department, while also taking part in the broader educational mission of the institution. You will work closely with students to guide their learning through structured coursework, assessments, and hands-on projects, ensuring that the curriculum is delivered effectively and that students meet academic standards. The role also calls for active participation in preparing learning materials and contributing to the continuous improvement of the department’s teaching approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and lead seminars in your assigned subject area, following the approved syllabus and academic curriculum for each course.
- Coordinate and supervise course projects, laboratory practicals, and fieldwork, ensuring that students gain meaningful hands-on experience.
- Develop and update teaching and learning materials, including lecture notes, reading lists, case studies, and digital resources.
- Design, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and examinations in line with institutional policies and academic calendars.
- Invigilate university examinations while maintaining academic integrity and a secure testing environment.
- Provide academic guidance and feedback to students, helping them understand course content and improve their performance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and other academic activities as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- An earned PhD or a Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at university level, or equivalent research or industry experience in a discipline closely related to the position.
- Familiarity with designing course content, conducting assessments, and managing student learning outcomes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds.
- For candidates with qualifications obtained outside Kenya, a relevant equation or recognition from the appropriate authorities must be provided.
