Role Overview
This position involves teaching and assessing university students within the assigned academic department. The lecturer will deliver course content, guide practical projects, and prepare students for successful completion of their programmes. The role is central to maintaining the quality and consistency of instruction at the university, ensuring students receive well-structured learning experiences and meaningful feedback on their progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and lead seminars in the candidate’s area of specialisation, following the approved syllabus and curriculum for each course.
- Coordinate and supervise student projects, practical assignments, and any fieldwork or laboratory sessions linked to the course.
- Prepare and update teaching and learning materials, including lesson notes, presentation slides, case studies, and reading lists.
- Design and administer assignments, tests, and examinations in accordance with university assessment policies.
- Invigilate examinations and mark submitted work while maintaining accurate records of student performance.
- Provide academic support and consultation to students, including clarification of course content and guidance on practical work.
- Participate in departmental academic activities, including curriculum review, planning, and quality assurance processes as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- An earned PhD or a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a university accredited and recognised in Kenya.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, or equivalent experience in research or industry that is directly relevant to the teaching area.
- Applicants who hold qualifications obtained outside Kenya must have a valid equation and recognition certificate from the appropriate Kenyan regulatory body.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to diverse student groups.
- Familiarity with university-level assessment methods, including examination setting, invigilation, and marking procedures.
