Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 100,000

Location: Westlands

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, technically astute Oracle Apps Database Administrator to anchor our enterprise infrastructure and database ecosystems. Your primary objective is to guarantee the ultimate availability, security, and performance of our Oracle E-Business Suite applications and underlying Oracle databases. This position bridges high-level system architecture with hands-on routine maintenance; you will steer environments through end-to-end lifecycles including installations, multi-version migrations, and automated shell scripting. The role demands a proactive Linux-proficient systems engineer who understands the deep mechanics of enterprise applications and can seamlessly minimize system downtime across critical deployments.

Areas of Accountability

Environment Deployment & Lifecycle Management

  • Perform precise sizing, installation, setup, upgrades, and structural maintenance of Oracle E-Business Suite applications and core databases.

  • Execute flawless cloning of Oracle EBS application and database environments to support testing, staging, and live production tracks.

  • Analyze, test, and deploy Oracle application patches, cumulative updates, and critical security fixes following strict technical best practices.

Disaster Recovery & Performance Tuning

  • Architect, test, and supervise comprehensive backup and data recovery models across all enterprise systems.

  • Administer routine application and database backups utilizing localized file systems and specialized RMAN tools.

  • Systematically monitor and streamline application and database computing speeds using preventive tuning techniques.

System Diagnostics, Automation & Reporting

  • Troubleshoot and resolve intricate database anomalies and infrastructure bugs escalated by users within stipulated service windows.

  • Develop, test, and maintain robust Linux shell scripts to automate recurring tasks including system startup, shutdown, logs, and monitoring routines.

  • Build and customize specialized data reports directly within Oracle Applications to assist corporate decision-making and operational planning.

Capacity Planning & Security Safeguards

  • Conduct detailed capacity planning, disk space management, and operational system health audits to ensure ultimate availability.

  • Run technical security vulnerability scans and deploy immediate remediation patches on database servers.

  • Draft exhaustive technical documentation, system maintenance reports, and execution summaries for client engagements.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a matching technical discipline from a recognized institution.

  • Professional Certifications: Mandatory Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) status for both Oracle Database 19c and 11g from Oracle University.

  • Proven Experience: At least 3 years of progressive, hands-on experience in Oracle Apps Database Administration covering Oracle Database 11g through to 19c, alongside Oracle Apps R12/11i system tools.

  • Operating Systems: Advanced, professional proficiency operating within Linux server environments.

Technical Competencies

  • Infrastructure Intuition: Thorough understanding of enterprise software installations, patch application management, and system administration workflows.

  • Analytical Diagnostics: Elite technical troubleshooting skills with the capacity to resolve complex database failures under tight operational timelines.

  • Consultative Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the willingness to travel to client sites for system deployments, support runs, and relationship building.

What is in Store for You

  • High-Impact Architecture: Take direct ownership of tier-one enterprise tech stacks operating within a rapidly expanding technology landscape.

  • Advanced Skill Growth: Solve complex deployment challenges that sharpen your multi-version Oracle and Linux engineering expertise.

  • Collaborative Network: Work closely with cross-functional IT leaders and corporate corporate clients on mission-critical system migrations.
