Role Overview
This position exists to keep the Federation’s members actively involved and to move its policy agenda forward. Day to day, you will coordinate committees, organise quarterly member gatherings and CEO forums, track health-sector policy shifts, and turn member input into clear advocacy positions. Your work matters because a well-connected, informed membership gives the Federation the credibility and collective weight it needs to influence health policy and strengthen the private sector’s voice in Kenya.
You will act as the operational backbone for all member-facing activity: maintaining relationships, running meeting cycles, drafting briefs, and ensuring that commitments made in forums are followed through. The role suits someone who enjoys both the quiet discipline of records and minutes and the public-facing energy of convening senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep a structured, segmented member database current and use it to target communications about events, policy work, committee meetings, and partner-sponsored opportunities.
- Design and run a member engagement plan that improves participation, renewal, and satisfaction, including onboarding new members and integrating them into relevant committees.
- Act as secretariat for committees: schedule meetings, prepare notices and agendas, draft minutes, track action points, and maintain rosters and institutional records so past positions can be traced.
- Lead the design and delivery of quarterly member meetings and CEO Forums, including choosing themes, drafting concept notes, securing speakers, preparing briefings, managing the event flow, and producing follow-up reports.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and county-level health developments, then brief members and consolidate their input into unified sector submissions, communiqués, and policy papers.
- Drive member turnout for Federation-hosted and partner events, co-develop agendas with partners, and protect the Federation’s neutral convening standards.
- Support communications by drafting member updates, newsletters, committee briefs, advocacy messages, and social media content that highlights member activity and sector insights.
- Track engagement statistics, prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports, and supervise interns or volunteers assigned to membership and programme work.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health systems management, social sciences, development studies, communications, economics, business administration, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- At least four years of professional experience in membership engagement, programme coordination, advocacy, stakeholder management, or a comparable role within a membership body, association, or public-private platform.
- Proven ability to organise multi-stakeholder events end to end, from concept notes and speaker logistics to day-of coordination and post-event reporting.
- Strong written communication skills, including drafting concept notes, briefs, minutes, and professional reports accurately under tight timelines.
- Working knowledge of Kenya’s health sector, including the role of private providers and current reforms such as social health insurance, is a significant advantage.
- Solid command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams), online registration and survey tools, shared drives, and CRM or membership databases.
- Familiarity with social media content development for institutional channels, plus professional fluency in English.
- Organisational agility to run multiple committee cycles and events in parallel, with the interpersonal confidence to engage CEOs, senior government officials, and partner representatives while exercising discretion and neutrality.
