Role Overview
As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be the go-to expert for keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently at our site. Your day-to-day work involves executing maintenance routines, diagnosing complex mechanical failures, and partnering with production teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability. This role matters because your technical skill directly protects product quality, food safety, and the overall efficiency of our plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a wide range of systems, including gearboxes, power transmissions, drives, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Respond quickly to line breakdowns to restore production, then work with engineering colleagues to identify root causes and implement lasting fixes.
- Develop, execute, and continuously improve preventive and autonomous maintenance plans, while also building out a condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategy using inspection data and monitoring tools.
- Oversee external contractors and suppliers on site, ensuring they follow strict safety, quality, and food safety standards.
- Coach and mentor maintenance associates to strengthen the team’s technical skills and promote a proactive maintenance culture.
- Manage the inventory of mechanical spare parts, balancing availability against cost and lead times to support the maintenance strategy.
- Document maintenance activities and equipment histories within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support data-driven decision making.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical, methodical approach to diagnosing complex mechanical problems.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, power transmission components, and rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and a willingness to use data to improve maintenance planning.
- Fluency in English, with clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
- Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as part of the site’s operational schedule.
