Job Description

Role Overview

You will be responsible for winning and growing fuel supply business with shipping and trading clients, converting inbound and self-sourced enquiries into confirmed bunker sales. Your day-to-day focus is on building trust with decision-makers across the maritime fuel supply chain and ensuring that every negotiation leads to a profitable, deliverable contract. This role matters because your pipeline directly feeds vessel fuel operations, where timing, pricing, and reliability define the company's reputation in a competitive port environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales plan targeting bunker brokers, traders, shipowners, and vessel operators within your assigned territory.
  • Respond to fuel supply enquiries with competitive, accurate quotes and convert them into confirmed orders through proactive follow-up and negotiation.
  • Maintain and expand a pipeline of recurring clients by monitoring vessel schedules, market trends, and competitor pricing.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from first contact to contract signature, including credit terms, delivery logistics, and post-supply feedback.
  • Build long-term relationships with key accounts through regular site visits, port calls, and industry networking events.
  • Coordinate internally with operations, credit, and logistics teams to ensure that sold volumes are supplied on time and per agreed specifications.
  • Track sales performance, update CRM records, and report on pipeline status, win/loss reasons, and market intelligence.
  • Identify new business opportunities in adjacent segments such as marine lubricants, gas oil, or other petroleum products when relevant.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Kenyan professional with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in B2B sales or business development, ideally within petroleum, oil & gas, shipping, or marine services.
  • Proven track record of dealing directly with bunker brokers, traders, shipowners, or bunker purchasers, and understanding how these buyers make fuel procurement decisions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to price, negotiate, and close deals in a fast-moving commodity sales environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the confidence to present proposals to senior commercial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert enquiries into profitable fuel supply business, balancing volume targets with margin protection.
  • Solid working knowledge of bunkering, marine fuels, or petroleum products is a strong advantage; familiarity with HSFO, VLSFO, and MGO grades is particularly valuable.
  • A degree in business, commerce, engineering, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent industry experience will be considered.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is an opportunity to work at the centre of the maritime fuel supply trade in Kenya, with direct exposure to international shipping clients and a growing demand for reliable bunkering services. You will have the autonomy to shape your own sales pipeline while supported by an established operations team that handles delivery and logistics. For a sales professional who thrives on negotiation and relationship-building, this role offers a clear route to becoming a trusted name in the regional marine fuels market.
