Role Overview
This position owns the full product lifecycle for all banking products within the retail and SME segments, from initial concept through to market exit. Day-to-day, you will drive product strategy, lead market research and innovation pilots, and coordinate cross-functional teams to launch competitive, compliant solutions. Your work directly shapes the bank's ability to attract and retain customers while achieving sustainable growth in a fast-evolving financial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the bank's product strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and evolving customer needs across retail and SME portfolios.
- Manage end-to-end product lifecycles: initiate ideas, oversee development, coordinate launches, monitor performance, and retire obsolete offerings.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer insight gathering to identify gaps, trends, and innovation opportunities for new or enhanced products.
- Design and pilot new concepts, testing viability and scalability with target segments before full-scale rollout.
- Build and execute go-to-market plans, including pricing, positioning, and promotional strategies to drive adoption and revenue.
- Collaborate with Digital, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure timely delivery and regulatory adherence.
- Forge partnerships with fintechs, industry bodies, and regulators to support product innovation and compliance.
- Establish governance frameworks to monitor product risks, report on performance to senior leadership, and implement mitigation measures as needed.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the product management team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centricity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Strategic Management, or a related field is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Strategic Management, Marketing, or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.
- Professional qualification: Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma (or equivalent) and current membership in CIM or a similar recognized professional body.
- At least five years of relevant experience in a product management role within banking or financial services.
- Proven ability to write complex reports, perform detailed analyses, and handle quantitative calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong people management and leadership capabilities to motivate and develop a product team.
- Innovative and creative thinking, with a track record of introducing new ideas that improve customer engagement.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills to navigate product challenges and regulatory requirements.
- Project management expertise, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Comfortable with banking applications and digital tools relevant to product development and monitoring.
