Job Description

Role Overview

This is a senior relationship-management position within a private banking franchise, where you will act as the lead adviser to a portfolio of high and ultra-high net worth clients. Day to day you will be in front of clients and their advisers — reviewing portfolios, unpacking complex family and business objectives, and translating them into banking, credit, investment, and wealth-structuring solutions that hold up over the long term. The role matters because the bank's private banking growth, revenue quality, and reputation with its most valuable clients rest directly on the depth and judgement of the adviser managing those relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of high and ultra-high net worth relationships, expanding assets under management, deposits, credit, and investment balances while lifting overall portfolio profitability against agreed targets.
  • Win new private banking clients and retain existing ones, deepening share of wallet by understanding each client's wider family, business, and personal financial landscape.
  • Design and deliver integrated wealth plans that span investment advisory, succession and estate planning, wealth structuring, insurance, tax coordination, and bespoke private banking needs, including lifestyle and luxury-asset requirements.
  • Advise on both domestic and international investment opportunities to support clients' wealth creation and capital preservation goals.
  • Act as the client's primary trusted adviser — maintaining a current view of changing circumstances, market conditions, and family priorities, and conducting structured portfolio reviews at regular intervals.
  • Bring in specialist expertise from investment, insurance, tax, and other advisory functions to build joined-up solutions rather than standalone products.
  • Generate new business through targeted networking, referral relationships, and partnering with Corporate and Commercial Banking colleagues on shared client opportunities.
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of client requests, coordinating internal teams such as Operations, Risk, Marketing, IT, and Product, resolving service issues promptly, and upholding premium service and regulatory standards throughout the client journey.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of eight years of total professional experience.
  • At least five years at management level within banking.
  • At least four years in private banking or wealth management.
  • At least four years in product development and management.
  • At least three years in banking sales and customer service.
  • Project management experience of two or more years is advantageous.
  • Professional certification such as CISI, CFA, CFP, or an equivalent investment advisory qualification is advantageous; a master's degree is likewise an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to read client behaviour, transactional patterns, and market shifts, and to convert those insights into appropriate financial recommendations.
