Role Overview
You will oversee financial planning and reporting for projects and operational teams, turning expenditure and performance data into clear guidance for managers. By keeping budgets, forecasts and funding needs under review, you will help the organisation spot financial pressure early and make informed decisions about costs, resources and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and reports, maintaining reliable supporting records and completing account reconciliations.
- Contribute to monthly and annual financial close, applying accounting policies, relevant standards and internal control procedures.
- Build and update budgets, cost plans and forecasts for projects, departments and proposals in collaboration with project leads.
- Compare actual results with budgets, forecasts and previous periods, investigate significant differences and advise managers on practical responses.
- Monitor project spending, purchase commitments, accruals and outstanding obligations; forecast cash needs and flag potential funding shortfalls or overspending.
- Evaluate the budget and financial effects of changes to project scope, delivery schedules, procurement plans and staffing or other resource needs.
- Develop financial models, business cases and alternative scenarios to support planning and management decisions.
- Present financial dashboards and analysis at project reviews, record agreed actions and complete post-project assessments of budget performance and cost efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent credential.
- At least five years of relevant experience in management accounting, financial analysis and/or project finance.
- Practical experience preparing project budgets and forecasts, tracking costs and producing financial reports.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, budgeting and management reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
- Ability to interpret financial data, explain its implications to colleagues without a finance background and recommend workable next steps.
- Careful, organised and trustworthy approach, including sound handling of confidential information and the ability to meet reporting deadlines while working across teams.
- QuickBooks Online experience is an advantage. Financial modelling, data analysis and reporting-tool experience are also valuable; Power BI experience is preferred.
