Role Overview

This position is for an academic Lecturer who will take ownership of course delivery, research output, and student mentorship within their discipline. On a regular basis, you will prepare and present lectures, assess student work, update teaching materials, and advance a personal research agenda that strengthens the department's reputation. Your work matters because the university depends on its lecturers to deliver accredited programmes, attract research funding, and produce graduates who are ready for professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork for undergraduate and postgraduate courses assigned by the Head of Department.
• Develop and update course outlines, lesson plans, and assessment tools to keep programme content current and academically rigorous.
• Collaborate with departmental colleagues to design new academic programmes and participate in periodic curriculum reviews.
• Conduct original research in your area of specialisation, including preparing and submitting competitive grant applications to funding agencies.
• Publish findings in accredited journals and present at academic conferences, seminars, and professional workshops.
• Advise and mentor students on academic progress, research projects, and career pathways, while also supporting junior academic staff.
• Serve on departmental, faculty, and university committees, contributing to policy discussions and quality assurance activities.
• Engage in consultancy and community outreach work that applies scholarly expertise to real-world challenges.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in a discipline relevant to the department, obtained from a recognised and accredited university.
• Demonstrable experience teaching at university level, with a strong record of effective course delivery and student assessment.
• A track record of research activity evidenced by publications, conference presentations, or participation in funded research projects.
• Registration with, or clear eligibility for registration with, the relevant professional or statutory body in the discipline.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
• A student-centred teaching philosophy that promotes inclusive learning and supports academic success.
• The ability to work independently, manage multiple teaching and research duties, and meet institutional deadlines.
