Operational Excellence Manager
This role sits at the intersection of performance improvement, reporting discipline, and governance for a busy supply chain operation. It suits someone who is equally comfortable pulling apart a process to find where value leaks and holding a team to a compliance standard.
Role Overview
You will own the day-to-day drive for efficiency, service quality and control across the operation — studying how work actually gets done, then designing and landing the changes that remove cost, waste and duplicated effort while lifting the experience for our clients, their distributors and their transporters. A large part of the job is making performance visible: shaping the scorecards, KPIs and reporting rhythm that let managers see what is happening against budget and target, and act on it. Equally central is the controls, compliance and ethics agenda on site, where you act as the on-the-ground champion for procedure, conduct and regulatory adherence while coaching operational teams to take ownership of it themselves.
Key Responsibilities
- Review operational processes end to end and translate findings into continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, waste and duplication and increase delivered value and quality.
- Design and embed service excellence standards and procedures that measurably cut complaints and lift satisfaction for clients and their distributor and transporter networks.
- Build, track and refresh OPEX scorecards so business performance is measured clearly against agreed budgets and targets.
- Work with management to define job profiles, job descriptions, KPIs and reporting formats, and make sure they are communicated consistently across the operation.
- Partner with operational teams to diagnose what is driving KPI performance, then provide direction and support to meet or beat those targets.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports and presentations that give leadership the operational visibility needed to make decisions, and continuously upgrade existing KPIs and reporting to sharpen their value.
- Serve as site champion for the controls, compliance and ethics agenda: enforce SOPs, the Code of Business Conduct, company policies and government and regulatory requirements, complete weekly Pulsar observations, and follow all QHSE requirements.
- Carry out periodic risk reviews of operational processes, close identified gaps, keep procedures and policy manuals current, share best practice, and help identify, train and develop compliance champions across all categories.
- Build trust and influence across operational teams to secure genuine commitment to excellence, leading change management, cultural shift, communication and training programmes, and working with HR on talent management processes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Operations or Supply Chain Management.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, APICS or CIPS is an advantage.
- At least 3 years' experience in one or more of: external or internal audit; supply chain, operations or inventory management; or risk, governance and compliance management.
- Solid working understanding of generally accepted supply chain, inventory management and auditing SOPs and their associated KPIs.
- Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean or Kaizen is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the credibility to influence, motivate and hold operational teams accountable without direct authority.
