Role Overview
As an intern on our payments practice, you will help shape how digital payment systems are designed, rolled out, and assessed for clients across public and private sectors. Your day-to-day work will involve gathering and interpreting data, drafting research memos, and preparing materials that feed directly into strategy recommendations. You will work closely with senior consultants who will guide your contribution to live projects, while also giving you room to develop your own analytical voice in the fast-moving world of digital finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out targeted desk research into payment markets, regulatory frameworks, and digital financial services, summarising findings into clear, decision-ready briefs.
- Collect and organise quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and traceability for use in client analyses.
- Draft sections of project deliverables such as landscape reviews, case studies, and policy notes, under the direction of project leads.
- Help prepare pitch materials, concept notes, and presentation decks for potential new engagements, adapting content to different audiences.
- Track project deadlines and flag risks early, so that senior team members can adjust work plans and keep deliverables on schedule.
- Join at least one internal working group focused on recruitment, partnerships, communications, or public relations, and contribute to group objectives.
- Proactively seek feedback on your work and apply it to improve subsequent outputs, while building your knowledge of payment systems and digital inclusion.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, or another quantitatively rigorous discipline.
- Strong analytical thinking and a proven ability to work with data carefully, catching inconsistencies and asking the right questions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into simple, persuasive language.
- Demonstrable interest in payments, digital financial services, or financial inclusion, shown through coursework, internships, volunteering, or independent reading.
- A high degree of personal integrity, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative attitude—comfortable working independently and within small teams.
- Solid academic record and evidence of fast, self-directed learning in new subject areas.
