Job Description

Role Overview

This position is responsible for directing the organisation’s entire information and communications technology function, ensuring that all systems, networks, and digital tools operate smoothly and securely on a daily basis. As the head of the ICT unit, you will balance hands-on technical problem solving with team supervision, vendor coordination, and forward-looking planning, making your work essential to uninterrupted business operations and long-term technological resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the ICT team, handling task allocation, performance reviews, and workload management so that all support requests and projects are completed accurately and on time.
  • Direct daily ICT operations across hardware, software, servers, networks, and peripheral equipment, maintaining a stable and responsive infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical faults in systems and equipment, implementing preventive maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
  • Develop and enforce security protocols to safeguard networks, systems, and sensitive company data, including access controls, threat monitoring, and confidentiality practices.
  • Own the data backup and disaster recovery programme, conducting regular restoration tests to guarantee business continuity in any emergency.
  • Develop and deliver user training and guidance so staff can adopt secure, efficient working practices with all technology platforms.
  • Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, software licences, and equipment inventory, ensuring cost-effective and compliant use of all ICT assets.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on system upgrades, digital transformation initiatives, and new technology adoption, then lead the successful rollout of approved solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business information technology, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or another closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in ICT operations, with demonstrable exposure to team leadership, task delegation, or project coordination.
  • Professional certifications in relevant areas such as network administration, systems administration, cybersecurity, or IT service management.
  • Proven working knowledge of ICT infrastructure, including local and wide area networks, server environments, cloud platforms, endpoint devices, and security tools.
  • Practical experience delivering technical support, troubleshooting complex technology issues, and coordinating maintenance or upgrade activities.
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills, with a track record of training users and collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.
