Role Overview
The Technology group at the Rainforest Alliance carries the digital product roadmap from early concept through to live, functioning systems — covering the platforms that support global business initiatives and assurance programs. As a senior .NET developer on a product team, you'll take ownership of in-house applications that partners and staff depend on every day, sharpening how they perform, how they scale, and how safely they handle data. Reporting to the Senior Software Engineering Manager, you'll pair hands-on coding with architectural input, working alongside an architecture group and colleagues distributed across several countries and time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, extend, and maintain the organization's custom portal using .NET and C#, delivering features that serve a high-volume user base.
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, tuning applications so they stay responsive and scale as traffic and data volumes grow.
- Design, implement, and connect RESTful APIs and messaging-based integrations so systems share data reliably across the platform.
- Ship code through Azure Container Apps and Azure DevOps pipelines, strengthening continuous integration and delivery practices along the way.
- Containerize applications with Docker and Aspire to simplify and standardize deployment across environments.
- Advance automated testing and release automation so changes reach production with greater confidence and less manual effort.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code efforts, including bringing Terraform into CI/CD workflows to provision environments repeatably.
- Uphold application security standards and industry compliance expectations throughout the development lifecycle.
- Partner with product managers, architects, and engineers in sprint planning and refinement sessions, and help shape system design decisions within the product team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Seven or more years of professional .NET development, with demonstrated depth in .NET and C#.
- Solid grounding in RESTful API design, development, and integration best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Container Apps and Azure DevOps build and release pipelines.
- Working exposure to cloud services, and familiarity with weaving Terraform into CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL, including data storage design and query work.
- Practical knowledge of Docker and deploying containerized applications, plus familiarity with Aspire.
- Experience applying security standards and secure-coding practices to application development.
- Comfort with testing frameworks and deployment automation tooling.
- A track record of effective collaboration within decentralized, multi-location teams, and a team-first approach to influencing architecture and system design.
