Role Overview
This position drives the school’s journey through the final authorisation and evaluation stages of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, ensuring every step meets IB standards. Day to day, the coordinator leads professional learning sessions, coaches teachers in inquiry-based instruction, and manages the DP Core—Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service. The role matters because it shapes a culture of international-mindedness and continuous improvement that directly impacts student outcomes and the school’s standing as an IB World School.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the school through final IBDP authorisation and subsequent evaluation visits, acting as the main point of contact with the IB.
- Oversee full implementation and ongoing coordination of the Diploma Programme, including curriculum planning, assessment schedules, and examination administration.
- Foster a school-wide ethos of inquiry, global perspectives, and reflective practice among teachers and students alike.
- Lead instructional coaching and targeted professional development to strengthen teaching and learning within the IB framework.
- Coordinate all DP Core components (TOK, EE, CAS) and ensure timely, accurate submission of internal and external assessments.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the IB, managing communication regarding standards, practices, and policy updates.
- Monitor compliance with IB deadlines and documentation requirements, using platforms such as IBIS and ManageBac to track progress.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Qualified teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
- Minimum eight years of classroom teaching experience in an international or high-performing curriculum environment.
- At least three years of successful teaching experience within the IB Diploma Programme.
- Proven experience leading or supporting an IB candidacy, authorisation, programme evaluation, or verification process (strongly preferred).
- Completion of official IB professional development—Category 2 required; Category 3 an advantage.
- Deep understanding of IB Standards and Practices and current developments in IB education.
- Previous experience coordinating an IB programme or demonstrating academic leadership in an IB World School (preferred).
- Proficiency in IBIS, ManageBac, or equivalent IB platforms.
- Demonstrated instructional leadership with the ability to inspire and develop a teaching team.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to IB deadlines.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strategic thinking and programme planning capabilities, coupled with a commitment to inquiry, international-mindedness, and continuous improvement.
